"The" foxx

Foxx was named for one of baseball's all-time biggest hitters, Jimmie Foxx, who truly did "swing for the fence".  Living up to his name, Foxx brings an incredible blend of focus, drive, and desire to the field.

Foxx's laser-like focus on the line gives him confidence to precisely mark his birds.  His drive fuels his intense work ethic.  And his desire to be a team player with his handler, Lauren Hays, makes him a dream to train.

Completely amateur-trained, Foxx began making a name for himself at a young age.  Running only 11 derbies he earned 23 points and made the National Derby list.  Immediately following his second birthday he took 2nd place in his first Qualifying.  Foxx seemed to be advancing extremely fast, which led Lauren just a few weeks later to double-stake him in an Amateur and Qualifying.  He not only took 3rd in his very first Amateur but won the Qualifying.  This was quickly followed by another Amateur 3rd, then an Amateur 2nd, all in only 5 All Age starts.  He wrapped up a fantastic 2016 by receiving a JAM in both the Open (only his second one to run) and the Amateur.

2017 would start strongly with Foxx immediately winning a 75 dog Amateur at the peak of the Texas spring trial season.  He was the youngest dog entered and the youngest dog that weekend to finish an All Age stake in the entire United States. This win qualified him for the 2017 National Amateur Retriever Championship in Mondovi, Wisconsin this June. Incredibly, the weekend that he turned three years old, he again won an Amateur, completing his Amateur Field Champion title.

The 2018 trial year kicked off with astounding results.  Foxx won both the Open and the Amateur at the Tejas trial, cementing his place in the Retriever Hall of Fame of Double Header winners, at only three years old.  2019 has started strongly as well with Foxx winning an 85 dog Open at the South Texas trial! Foxx, as only a four-year-old, currently holds 52 All Age points.

There is much more to Foxx than just his field trial statistics. Foxx and Lauren were thrilled to hunt and guide with Albeck Adventures.  His first time to hunt wild birds, Foxx sat quietly in the blind and watched every bird, eagerly awaiting Lauren's command to retrieve.  It didn't take long for the whole camp to fall in love with his obedience and passion.  Over five days of hunting morning, noon and evening, Foxx retrieved over 300 birds.  On one spectacular morning hunt, Foxx picked up a 9-man limit of 54 ducks, comprised mostly of mallard and pintail drakes.  He posed proudly by the hunters afterwards, ready for more retrieving.  As a bonus, Foxx appeared on the cover of Mack's Prairie Wings Waterfowl 2017 magazine, in mid-retrieve!

Along with training, running trials and hunting, Foxx loves long naps on the couch with his head in Lauren's lap.  He's a wonderful companion in the house and a hit with the neighborhood children and families.  Very gentle by nature, Foxx goes on canine behavioral cases, assisting his owner with particularly challenging assignments.   In more than one instance, Foxx has convinced a reactive or aggressive dog that conspecifics can be a pleasure to get to know.  He truly has an outstanding demeanor with both people and animals.

Foxx is an amazing companion and friend, with built-in focus, drive, and desire. Coming from a long pedigree of excellence, he is the most exquisite blend of his sire FC AFC Bayou Teche Eye On The Ball, and his dam, FC 3R's Carbon Calie.
